Reverse Mortgages

So your now over 60 years old and have realised that National Super is not quite enough to support the ever increasing price of weekly essentials or meeting what you thought would be a comfortable retirement?

Maybe you did what you were always told to do from a young age and payed your home loan off but never made any other income producing investments to retire on.

Now because you don’t have a regular income coming in to support a loan the bank turns you away.

Frustration sets in as you have a freehold asset to borrow against but no one wants to give you a loan for that very overdue holiday, putting in that spa you always dreamed of or the boat so you can make use of the sign “gone fishing” that the office gave you as a parting gift the day you retired!

Well perhaps we can assist.

So what is a Reverse Mortgage?
A reverse mortgage is where a lending institution takes a mortgage against your property
You are not required to make a repayment for the life of the loan as the interest is included.
The loan is then repaid generally by way of sale when you pass on or, one of your beneficiaries will refinance the debt against your property into their name.
The amount you can borrow depends on your age and the value of your home.
The loan can be paid to you as a lump sum or a monthly benefit to suit your desired lifestyle.
There are many options available with regards to fixing or floating the interest rate on reverse mortgages.

We are professional NZMBA accredited mortgage brokers. It is our duty to understand the market and educate you on available options that best suite your requirements.
